Acai berries are one of the members of the so-called superfood group and thanks to the many benefits they deserve the nickname “purple gold”. But what is actually acai berry and what benefits can offer us?
This small fruit with deep purple color comes from the acai palm tree, which grows in Central and South American rainforests and looks a lot like grapes. These tiny berries are packed with antioxidants that are very helpful to our immune system and help to protect against various diseases. Acai also contains fiber, which helps steady our blood sugar, calcium, which is very important for our bones, muscles, heart or nerves and heart-healthy fats e.g. Omega 3. Acai berries also contain anthocyanins, which according to studies have anticancerous properties and enhance our memory. We can also find these berries in many beauty cosmetics products, such as face and body creams, anti-aging skin therapies, shampoos or conditioners. 
There are many ways of how these berries are used nowadays and there is no doubt that they are definitely powerful, but don’t depend on them to fix all your health problems or issues. Always keep in mind that nothing can replace balanced healthy food together with an active lifestyle.
